The grumpiness of the short distance runner

Luca was not a happy camper when he found out that there was a two hour wait between the long jump and the 4x100 m relay race.
He was even less happy when it turned out that the races were at least 1.5 hour behind schedule.
He was pleading to head back home unsure as he was of being able to recapture the high of his 60 m meter sprint in the morning (7th out of 7).
As they were competing in pairs, I told him that it would be unfair for his partner Seadh.
So we whiled the hours away watching the other races, taking photographs (me), moaning (him) and getting sunburned (the two of us...)
I had to use all my legendary sense of diplomacy to get Luca to wait until 3.15pm, when it was time for the U11 boys to line up for the relay race.
But he could not take part.
Seadh had legged it without telling us.
