Who reads Ngaio Marsh?

Ngaio Marsh (1899 – 1982) was one of the quartet of famous women detective story authors that also included Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers and Margery Allingham. She wrote more than thirty murder mysteries featuring her incredibly suave and sensitive detective Roderick Alleyn.

Ngaio Marsh was a New Zealander who in part thought of England as ‘home’. As well as writing successful detective stories she was a painter and a theatre producer, who was awarded an OBE for her services to New Zealand theatre, particularly performances of Shakespeare.

Ngaio Marsh was a favourite in our family when I was growing up. I still have my faded and dogeared collection (extra). I wonder who reads her today?
