St Andrew's Park

Another local delight discovered today - the Victorian St Andrew's Park in Bristol was opened in 1895. Today it boasts a second world war memorial, a tea garden and a peaceful wildlife pond (unless you're a newly-hatched mayfly when you're likely to be short-lived and speedily feasted upon by a passing house sparrow!). A good spot to while away a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon. The memorial recalls an incident in April 1941 when a Wellington bomber crashed into the Park, and commemorates the bravery of those local men who risked their lives to save three of the six men on board. Good to see that a different kind of bomber has also landed - this yarn-bomb has been there for some time, from the look of it.
