Gate but no fence

We woke to a hard frost, and it has been a very cold but bright day.

We had a talk on Lady Explorers at my group meeting this afternoon, it was very interesting and took us to lots of different countries.

Rather than going straight home afterwards I took a walk around the neighbourhood as the sun was shining. 

 I was amused by this gate...... a gate but no fence..... serving no purpose although in the past it probably had a use.  I liked the texture in the iron works......
