Hovenweep

This settlement dates from 1200 AD when people occupied this spot which is now near the Utah and Colorado border. Among other questions, one wonders why?

We stopped there enroute to our weekend hikes in Utah.

This picture is a ruin named Hovenweep Castle. Hovenweep is a Ute word meaning deserted place. It's 40 miles from the nearest town. I agree!
