Poyntzfield Herb Garden

Took a trip with Mrs P to Cromarty following the northern shore so we could get a look at Queen Mary 2 moored at Invergordon. Unfortunately there was still a lot of mist which meant a really flat contrast. Even after some Photoshop rescue still not what I was really looking for. To be honest not really any different from the many other other cruise liners that come here. Moving further along we called in at Poyntzfield Herb Garden and the picture shows the view that faces you just after passing through the entrance gate. Mrs P had a happy time wandering through through the large walled garden and found the angelica she was was looking for as well as one or two other things. The garden was featured in a book "The Scottish Gardener" by Suki Urquhart for which I did the index quite a few years ago. The house itself is a Georgian mansion which you can rent. According to the book the walled garden was bought by a Duncan Ross in 1990 after he had rented it for the previous 14 years. I have no idea what the current position is. No sign of the mist here although it was still around for a short time as we went back towards Cromarty via Jemimaville.
