My mother’s bookshelf

Yesterday I drove down to Palo Alto to visit my 98-year-old mother. She is losing her memory and can’t read any more, so all her old books sit untouched on their shelves. It made me sad. But she was glad to see me; she can mostly recognize who I am, still.
