Letters in the basket

Walked this afternoon with Belgian expat here on Crete from his village up the slopes and down again. Getting upwards on the pretty steep slopes across olivegroves and goat paths was wonderful, but too much for me too; I couldn't reach the top of the hill for the last 1&half kms, so we rerturned when I'd decided that the top was beyond my condition.

In his village we took a wine and meze (tappas in Spanish)  and there I spotted this basket with letters... The mailbox of the village.!
One place for the postman to deliver mail and to pick up mail from and all the villagers come to check there if their mail is deliverd! Simple and wonderful! and of course thus the taverna owner is the first to know if all is well with his fellows in the village!

Thank you all lots for your reactions upon yesterblip of Pardali who's looking sad and still does... we didn'' t  find her newborns yet...
