The spit machine

It is  snowing again, so time for another peek down the microscope. This is a section of a mammalian salivary gland. Salivary glands are made up of secretory acini (acinus - means a rounded secretory unit) which produce saliva, and ducts which drain it into the mouth. In this preparation the acini are stained blue, the ducts are yellowish and the small red bodies are cell nuclei.
