Packhorse bridge at Thornthwaite

This ancient bridge spans Padside Beck in the Nidderdale valley and has the low parapets typical of packhorse bridges. It is also known as Fairy Bridge, but having researched a little, I'm not sure why.

Shortly after this photo was taken, the grey skies blew over and we had a snow blizzard. It was, nevertheless, a lovely walk discovering hidden places we hadn't seen before.
