The Interviewer

Between 1950 and 1964 I lived in The Lodge at Stansfield View Hospital, Todmorden.
Built in 1878 as the Todmorden Union Workhouse it later became Stansfield View Hospital and after 1948 provided care for the mentally handicapped. As the 'Care in the Community' concept gathered pace the hospital was closed and the buildings were demolished in 1996. The site in now a housing development.
The last occupants left in 1993 and a documentary is being made to mark the 30th Anniversary.  I have spent most of the afternoon being interviewed about my life there - and have provided quite a few photographs.  I have to say it has been a most enjoyable afternoon.
