Border Hills

This morning Mrs CBL and I drove south to Dumfries, in the Scottish Borders, to attend the funeral of our son-in-law’s father.

The crematorium is in a beautiful setting on the shores of a small loch.  There is a panoramic view from the chapel and mallards, coots and moorhens were swimming on the still waters.  I was told that there have been occasions during the services when the ducks have waddled up to the window and pecked on the glass.

That didn’t happen today so there were no distractions as the minister conducted the service.  The eulogy was lighthearted and told of a life well lived by a man who was a much loved husband, devoted father and loyal friend to many.

The photo is of the snow covered, rolling hills of the border country, an attractive view from the service station in Abington where we stopped for lunch.
