Opportunist

My feelings were divided when I saw a pair of Bullfinches feasting on the very new buds of blossom on the amelanchier tree in the garden. A big part of me thought “How lucky am I to be able to watch these colourful birds just outside my kitchen window.” Then I thought of rushing out to chase them away to save the blossom, but of course I didn’t. I just stood and watched them and photographed them. The photos aren’t great as they were taken through the window and the birds would have flown if I had ventured out, so I just enjoyed the moment. After all, these beautiful creatures (or their ancestors) lived here long before I did, and the tree is an interloper.
