Liberation Day

Here I am, sitting in the car eating a fish supper from Louis’ and listening to Liberation Day by George Saunders.
As the rain comes suddenly up the firth it makes for a wonderful percussion to the story as it shimmers against the car. The wash of it on the windscreen blurs the light on the water, land and sky into abstract. All of this comes together beautifully and I am grateful to be here in the driver’s seat. Not just here: but here and noticing.
