Desert Squirrel

Tahitian rata

Metrosideros collina 'Tahiti'. My two small shrubs are flowering now. The silvery foliage is very attractive, but I lost over half of my older plant last winter. They don't tolerate frost, and generally that isn't a problem up here on the hill. However, we can get freezing southerly winds, which are sometimes just as bad for plants. Nevertheless, I've managed to grow this plant for many years now without losing too many branches.
