Littleferry walk

We returned to the other side of Loch Fleet for a walk in the dunes in the area of the old ferry crossing.

Berry must have run at least four times our distance, digging at the sand and sniffing for rabbits - evidence of them was everywhere!

A moody view here of the Duke of Sutherland Monument up above Golspie. Not the most popular chap because of his part in the infamous clearances and there have been recent attempts to topple the statue but we need to keep these things to remind us what not to do, I feel.

We eventually had some lunch in Golspie and then pottered up to Wick. We visited the Old Pulteney whisky distillery and then parked up for an hour above the old harbour.  I didn't know that Wick was built by Pulteney and Telford who saw potential in not only whisky but also herring.  Men of vision employing many locals, in contrast to their monied  counterpart further south.

To our surprise, we were the last to arrive at the ferry terminal despite being a good 15 mins early.   Not many travellers and the ferry left 20 mins before schedule. A big swell on the sea despite a calm day.  Now home and offloading our wonderful snailshell.

Extra of Wick lighthouse.
