A bit of jazz and swing.

We held the conference dinner tonight with the music provided by a great jazz band called Pengopuss, based in Bathurst.
As they were packing up, we asked the origin of the bizarre name. The sax player had fallen over one night after a couple of beers and hurt his foot whereupon his girlfriend said “you’re walking like a penguin”. He replied “that’s funny because the boys in my cricket team say I run like an octopus”.
In spite of the injury and the band’s name, he’s pretty classy on the saxophone and clarinet!
