La Sagrada Familia

We woke up to another day of sunshine.
in Barcelona.

One of the city’s famous landmarks is the Catholic Cathedral La Sagrada Familia which began construction in 1882 and is still not finished.

Designed by Antoni Gaudi (a Catalan, therefore a local!) it is a strange sculpture, very Gothic.
It’s very difficult to photograph as it’s so tall and surrounded by many other buildings so here’s a pic of the first close-up view we saw of it. Another view in the extras.
A very popular tourist attraction, it was very busy and with a hefty entrance charge and long queues, we didn’t go in.

We hopped on the open top bus and took a ride through the city, and jumped off at Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona FC.

Then another bus ride to Montjuic, one of the the hills that overlooks the city.
The athletics stadium which hosted the 1992 Olympic Games is on the top of Montjuic. A very grand setting for the games.

Great city to visit. So much to see.
