Sunshine

Every Friday at work we have a Staff Development Hour first thing where everyone in the library is encouraged to spend time on their own development or to attend one of the talks that are organised during term time. This week, there was a choice of a talk about one of the library’s archive collections, or a talk given by Claire Fuller, a successful writer, about the process of getting a book published. I went to the second option and it was really interesting, hearing about the role of a literary agent, publisher, editor, etc. It was unusual to have a talk by someone outside of the university - usually it’s someone internal - but regardless, I feel lucky to be working somewhere that organises these sessions for its staff.
