Coming home

The blip was taken on our descent towards Edinburgh airport over the hills to the South. The extra a few minutes later as the plane circled over the river Forth. I had hoped to get an aerial shot of the 3 bridges but we were on the wrong side of the plane. It does show the prominent Arthur’s seat volcanic rock and Salisbury Crags.

These shots were unfortunately taken 5 hours later than they should have been - 11 am instead of 6 am !
Our plane leaving Saigon was held up on departure and arrived at Doha too late for our connection direct to Edinburgh. Instead we had been rebooked onto a flight to London Heathrow with another flight then on to Edinburgh.

This is exactly what we had planned to avoid as Heathrow is probably our least favourite airport in the world -  further confusion on whether our cases had been transferred meant we wasted a lot of time , then had to take 2 train transfers from the International terminal to Terminal 5 and just made the Edinburgh flight with minutes to spare !!

We were a bit weary after leaving Saigon at 35 C  and arriving in Edinburgh at 8 C 26 hours later - these are the joys of travel but we are determined not to let this journey spoil our memories of a fabulous holiday that we should have done last March.  Covid put a stop to that but thankfully we put it on for a year and the poor people of Vietnam involved in tourism, many of whom had no work for 2 years, can now enjoy the return of tourists like us.

I am grateful to the blip friends who have followed these travels and encouraged me - apologies but blips could be boring and intermittent from now on.!
