Farmland around the head of the Slad valley

I wandered off the beaten track to where Keith mentioned he'd recently seen some hares when walking his dog. That would have been soon after sunrise as he is a farmer. today All I had to enjoy were the views under the scudding clouds and intermittent sunshine.

Directly ahead are several coombes at the top of the Slad valley. The transition between the wooded slopes and the farmland is generally a product of the alternating strata of Cotswold limestone, the clays and brash which allow for arable and grazing farming, or woodland management on steep slopes.

The last weeks of winter provide this lovely set of tones which soon will all turn to shades of green as spring arrives.
