Happy spring equinox

Astronomical spring started! It snowed all day.

Finland has been named happiest country for a sixth year in a row in global rankings!

The annual World Happiness Report is produced each spring by the UN’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network, based on data from the Gallup World Poll.

Locals in more than 150 countries around the world are asked to rank their experiences as residents, while team members behind the study assess each nation’s GDP, life expectancy, generosity, social support, freedom and corruption levels.

Finland got significantly higher happiness score than any other nation. According to Frank Martela, a Finnish psychologist and philosopher, part of the reason is due to our non-competitive nature. We enjoy four weeks of summer holidays and one week winter holiday.  87% of the population saying nature helped them to peaceful and relaxed.

Judging by an experiment in 2022 in which wallets were dropped in 16 cities across the world, the 11 out of 12 that were returned to their owners in Helsinki suggests Finns can trust one another.  Other things that contribute to the Finnish nation’s happiness are an emphasis on community and co-operation, universal health care, and few people living in poverty..

Lovely Yin Yoga class in the evening. In the picture persian buttercups that I bought last Friday, like them a lot!
