Dower House

Three of we four sisters took Mum for a short trip out for coffee and cake on Mother's Day. The Corstorphine Dower House was just right - not too far away, an interesting historic building in a once familiar part of town (from when we lived on Drm Brae and Mum taught at Craigmount High and then Queen Margaret College), and a good cafe.

It somehow seemed right to be there, eating cake and fancy porridge and masala chai and coffee in a place where we would once have been in danger from the local witch hunters.

Oh, and there was a good view of the Pentlands.
