Anemone hepatica

Very similar to Anemone blanda (with different leaves though) which readily self seeds in the garden at home (but comes from south-eastern Europe and the Middle East), these beautiful clusters of Spring blooms were growing right up close to several tree trunks in the woodland down by the Drance river.

We had a good 3 hour ski over to Les Gets, then back up to Ranfoilly from where we had a decent view of Mont Blanc. A cheeky crepe at the Wetzet before a long run back to Morzine and an even cheekier beer at the bottom. The hip hurts so I’m not doing anything wild, just gentle skiing and enjoying the scenery.

The flowers beat the mountains to earn blip of the day.
