A Brief Look Back

After finishing todays teaching we went out to share a meal with 3 of our colleages here in Vilnius as their way of celebrating nearly (only tomorrow morning left) the completion of our delivery of 5 courses in their department over 3 years.

These 3 are remarkable people and told something more of their story as pioneers in an unsexy part of medicine in a post soviet state, they entered their chosen career pathways with clear vision of developing child psychariatry and child development services whilst Lithuania remained a Soviet state. Whilst they were not shy in telling us of the work yet to be done their courage and energy and vision in the space that appeared after independance has a lasting impact and legacy for this small nation.

We talked about freedom and those of us from the UK were humbled by how they valued that.

Their kind words about our work though paled in our appreciation of their courage and what they have acheived.

Todays shot is looking back on the cathedral and it's square, a place where the people stood in the days leading up to independance. A very special place.
