Another stride forward

Behind all the froth of the cow parsley is a deep gulley fenced off with two stiles and a footpath running between the two into the next field. Today was the day! I waded through to the first stile which was easily negotiated as it had one tall pole on the left hand side but the second was not so easy. Nothing above the top bar to hold on to! After wobbling astride the structure there was a happy landing the other side. This is a stride forward since receiving a new hip. If I had fallen there was no way to contact the outside world as I had neither the dog nor my mobile with me! The next challenge is a gate - with my mobile!

The boys were over the other side of the farm fencing to day and the contractor came with his quadbike to sow the maize. He said it went in very easily.

N's cousin from Toronto phoned with news of her brother in London who has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. B thought it was a bug first of all and after further investigation they found a tumour. The Royal Marsden is treating him the best they can and all we can do is to think positively. A also told us about her nephew from Canada who is now dancing with the Royal Ballet in London and is now beginning to take on minor roles aged 20. He started with them when he was 18. Oh to be young and strong!
