Noises from the SW Front

Google informs me this wee bird is a Killdeer - the largest of the Ringed Plovers. He/she has dug out a wee nest in the wood mulch covering one of our front flower borders. There’s an egg at the bird’s feet if you look closely. I was mowing the dead grass to allow room for new growth and didn’t notice the bird at first, as I tromped back and forth. When it treated me to all its threat displays: puffing-up, broken-wing, etc, accompanied by loud screeching, I took the hint and buggered off
