Flowing fast

A detour from a short shopping expedition took me to The Splash, a popular spot on the River Mole not far from Fetcham. At last it was a warm sunny morning, such a tonic!
The river was flowing very fast and was over its banks. There was a swirling eddy right in the middle and at first I thought there was a swan caught up in it. Then I decided it was a white football! It soon escaped and went hurtling off downstream. I wonder whether it will eventually reach the River Thames. More secure was the pair of mallards settling in a quieter spot. I couldn’t see whether they had made a nest or were just investigating.
