Boulevard Art #1

Mrs CBL and I were in Aberdeen for most of today doing chores and more besides.  We had left a snowy Cruden Bay behind this morning and we’re delighted that there was no snow in the city.

In the late afternoon we took time to walk along the Beach Boulevard on the way home.  It was bright and sunny but there was a chill in the wind.

An area of the boulevard has been having a bit of a makeover and the pictures I’ve posted form part of the development.  It was tricky to capture a good angle on it and impossible to get all of it in view.

It is very colourful and I liked the poem on the wall.  It is written in Doric the local dialect of Aberdeenshire and other parts of the north-east.  I have translated it for you.

“Stay a while where waves meet land, tides ebb and flow, etch patterns in the sand,
Stay a while on hot days dip, feet and ankles in healing salt water, let crazy children dig for treasure,
Stay a while when it’s freezing cold, but remember and make sure to wrap up warm.”
