Vermeer

A word about an artist we love.   I do like most 17th C Dutch art because I like “small domestic interiors.”  Like this.  In my studio. The postcard was sent by a good friend from the Hague in 2007.  Another friend wanted us to go with him to the big Vermeer exhibition on now at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam but that wasn’t going to happen…so I signed up for a Context learning seminar about Vermeer which was live zoom, at 8:00am in Seattle …it was a delight to watch while in our pjs on the bed with a big mug of coffee.  Lots cheaper.  But she showed some scenes from the exhibit…huge crowd.   NO thank you.   Not that they aren’t absolutely the best in person.  But not with 9 people in front of you.   There are 12 in the US (used to be 13 …we did see the one stolen from Boston) and we’ve searched them out many other places and came upon a wonderful surprise show at the Prado years ago.    There are more together in this show than we have seen but I feel privileged with what we have had.    So I signed up for part 2 of the Vermeer zoom  seminar. :-)

Apparently there are thousands of remake a master “Girl with the Pearl Earring”s on instagram.  which are being shown in it’s place in the Mauritshuis while it is away.   We had fun with these, you may remember..…. Officer and Laughing Girl, and the Milkmaid

Other than that and a walk , we worked in the “garden”…I actually planted 3 plants and we put new dirt in the back patio—it’s hard work, I appreciate all you who are gardeners...—which was looking fine in the sun today. It's right outside the studio door.    (extras)

Just found out our boat in Canada which was being serviced will be ready tomorrow with new bottom paint so that’s where we are headed with the goal to burn the burn pile which is only allowed through the end of March.  the weather was too bad the last time we were there and we weren't sure it would happen this year.

Off to Fiona’s choir concert tonight. .  Might add a photo., (altho that’s her in the Vermeer Milkmaid.)

Sorry this got too wordy...busy day
