Bowerhill (Sunday 26th March 2023)

Late afternoon on Sunday saw me stopping off at the Kennet and Avon, enjoying the rather good light. I spied a swan further up the canal and made my way towards it.

From the newly acquired album Open, on the Jools side of the album, their version of the Pops Staples composition, first recorded by the Staple Singers, was developed from the version by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet that had recently been released. Probably the best known version of the song was by the Sweet Inspirations. I spent some time trying to identify the horn section found on this and several of the other tracks on the album but they remain uncredited.
