Stitchbird

We had a great day out on Tiritiri Matangi which is a predator free island in the Hauraki Gulf. Saw lots of native birds and managed to get a few images. The Stitchbird, also known as Hihi, is one of the rarest NZ birds and the population on the island is carefully managed. In extras is the Bellbird (Korimako) which is much more numerous on the island and elsewhere in NZ. Also in extras is a view of the lighthouse as we approached the island. At one time it had the brightest light of any lighthouse in the southern hemisphere.
