Guatemalan worry dolls

These are tiny, about 1 cm. A little girl was selling them when we got off the bus in Chichicastenango. The idea is that you tell them your worries when you go to bed, put them under your pillow, and they’ll take on the worries. They are in a box about 3cm long, so were ideal to buy as little presents for the children. Ella has used hers already - worries about playing her ukulele in public, and maths tests. Nathaniel thanked me politely but said he doesn’t really worry. He was more excited about the bit of obsidian I found in a disused mine by the side of the road. He was taking that for “show and tell.”

#2 daughter has gone to Yorkshire with her choir. The other women are at least 20 years older than she is.

It’s Easter holidays for schools here.
