Native Blueberries

We had our very old and very large laurel oak trimmed this past year, so that if it fell during a hurricane it (probably) won't land on our house. This opened up the tree canopy in our back yard considerably. Plants that had been 'languishing' for many years all of a sudden found themselves basking in lots of sunlight Our native blueberry bushes have never been productive. Oh, maybe a few berries in a season but nothing to get excited about. All that has changed, for the better. Every single bush is covered with blueberries! Now, naturally, the trick will be to harvest them before the critters get them all. Blueberries freeze well, so that's our plan! And of course, we'll leave plenty of fruit for our feathered and furry friends.
