Meet Wensleydale

Wensleydale is an owl from the Urals.  The poor fellow lost one of his eyes when hunting. Apparently his prey was hiding in brambles and when he flew down to catch it his eye was damaged on the bramble thorns.  Despite that, he is a happy owl and is well cared for at Fens Falconry in Wisbech and seemed to enjoy being photographed.

Our local photographic society organised a photoshoot at the falconry where we spent over 5 hours in the company of the owner who flew and displayed a wide variety of hawks and owls for us.  I've added a photo of a beautiful kestrel in extras.

We all had a fab day, but I now have over 800 photos to process!  I suspect many of them will be deleted as photographing flying birds was quite a challenge.  That's a job for another day.
