DELICATE ARCH
Arches National Park - Utah

This freestanding natural arch is a real beauty. She rests on top of a huge Sandstone formation, and frames a dramatic view of the
La Sal Mountains some 35 miles (56 kilometers) away.
You can find her likeness on Utah license plates and postage stamps.
She participated in 2002 Winter Olympics, allowing a runner with the torch to pass beneath.

To see this beauty:
Requires a 3 mile round trip hike,
That climbs steadily over open slick rock, and there isn't a speck of shade along the route.

The temp today- 90F (32C) with hot, dry, sandy winds- gusting above 24 mph. We didn't linger too long at the arch because there was that issue of almost being knocked off our hiking boots.
