Hindhope Linn

Lots to do, but blow it, the sun was shining so we decided to go out for the day!

First a walk in the woods near Holystone. Many of the woodland trails are still closed (the Forestry Commission and landowners are still clearing the huge numbers of trees that fell or were damaged during Storm Arwen and two subsequent storms), so we did a circular walk on tracks through Holystone Burn Nature Reserve. Towards the end of the walk it was good to see a red squirrel, though it was far too high in a tree for a decent shot!

No red flags flying, so MrM drove us through the Otterburn Ranges - fabulous views on a day like today - to Redesdale, where we stopped at the top of the Kielder Forest Drive for a walk to Hindhope Linn. Not very far, but through some lovely woodland. The top part of the track was blocked off (Storm Arwen damage again...), but we were able to go as far as the waterfall.

Finally a meal at the Redesdale Arms.
