Soller and Palma

Today the HG and I took the bus to Soller, a fabulous ride over the mountains. Soller is a very nice town, with a market, a tramway to Puerto de Soller, and a wonderful hundred year old wooden train which goes through the lemon groves and through the hills, with lots of tunnels, one very long, all the way to Palma, the capital of Mallorca.

The HG had never been to Palma so we decided to take the train, and it was a fabulous ride. We were able to stand out between the carriages at times, a bit scary but great for photos.

When we arrived at Palma we had a quick snack and then walked through the town to the Cathedral. It reminded me of the walk up to the Sacre Coeur in Paris, as the way was filled with street entertainers, and artists. We just strolled along taking in the entertainment and the architecture which was rather nice at times.

Visited the Cathedral, and were amazed at its size. It is set high up and has beautiful views of the sea and the surroundings.

Then we wandered back down and caught the direct bus back to Puerto de Pollensa.

The weather was warm and sunny and in the mid seventies, perfect!
