Viburnum x burkwoodii

Covered in sweetly perfumed pom poms of tiny white flowers. It looks a treat in Mum's garden. "The best it's ever been".
A glorious sunshiny Spring morning, I nipped up the plot early, measured the spud bed with rows & spacings for later on, then I planted 2 rows of Anemone de Caen (2 packs Tesco's, 2 packs £5, 2 packs Jack's Patch.£3.99 each) it will be interesting to compare performance.
Walked Indie, coffee, Danish, & natter with Mum. Tried to work out how long Mum & Dad had been out of the Anchor. My brother died on 14th August, Mum & Dad's Ruby wedding anniversary on the 16th August, Usher's brewery took over the pub from Whitbread's Brewery on the 17th August. Mum & Dad decided to call it a day after their 30 year tenancy. They moved out in November. That's when they moved into the bungalow. I needed to know the year as it was one of the questions asked when I tried to set up an online bank account for Mum earlier in the week. Mum couldn't remember any dates, so I found their marriage certificate in the old wooden cigar box and worked it out from there. Phew!! Organised a pot meal for her lunch, then headed home.
A quick change of shoes, collected the seed potatoes, a flask of hot water, plus bits n bobs then headed to the plot. I thought it would be a hive of activity, but relatively quiet apart from Alan, who likes to be heard, which can be rather annoying. I prefer birdsong. 50 seed potatoes, 5 rows, varieties Charlotte, Verity, & Marfona. All planted, banked up, & labelled. I lifted about 3kg of leeks so will wrap them and give them to neighbours, & Mandy whose yard I collect the poo from, tomorrow. Had a chat with a couple of chaps on the plot, comparing "notes". Always good to chat. Packed up & got home about 4.45, quickly made dinner, pig's heart layered with homemade stuffing, sliced onion & potato, got it in the oven, then cider, & the end of Tipping Point. Picked in the washing, all dry. Brilliant. :-)
