Kenroku-en Garden

It was a bit cold and wet, but when the sun came out the gardens (in the top 3 in the country apparently) and the rest of Kanzawa were looking lovely. We also got round the castle grounds, a traditional house and a trendy craft/ food market in a park.

Maybe should have stayed for an extra day as there were things we didn't end up seeing, but we still managed a good bit.

In the evening we walked over to the Hagashi Chaya District where we saw two geisha getting into a taxi, had a drink in an Izakaya with a heated footwell under the table (bliss) while French jazz played, and then ate dinner in a cosy pizza place with Italian speaking staff and an authentic oven.
