holy saturday…

…a waiting game

on grief

or the in between time

the time we call - holy saturday is also - commonly known as sabbath - or a day of rest - it may feel like - a joke because how - do you rest - or put a pin - in it after - your savior or anyone - you’ve loved has - just died, lost their lives - how on earth - are you to pause - or be still

but that’s exactly - what happens the - day after the crucifixion

‘the women who had come with him from galilee followed and saw the tomb and how his body was laid. then they returned and prepared spices and ointments. on the sabbath they rested according to the commandment.’ luke 23:55-56 (esv)

it makes me think - of the beginning - of creation and - abba forming all things - and when he - was done he, too, rested

‘and on the seventh day god finished his work that he had done, and he rested…’ genesis 2:2a (esv)

it’s as though - we come full - circle with the trinity - they formed the - earth, it was good - and they rested - now jesus stretched - out his arms - to bring us back - into a right relationship - again with abba and it was good - and so we could - contemplate and rest before - fully rejoicing as our - hope would be - made complete and we would have…

a

happy day…..
