Wildflowers in the garden

This year Easter Sunday and Pete's birthday coincided. After a longish day of fieldwork yesterday it was good to stay at home, avoiding the crowds, and continuing with our garden renovations. I made a Bakewell tray-bake (one of his favourite cakes and a lot easier than Battenburg!) and loaded the slow-cooker with Lamb Kleftiko, which we were planning to share with Sarah and Ben in the evening. Photography was limited to the garden, where we have a wide variety of wildflowers currently in bloom.

After a trip to London yesterday, CJ's cough had worsened and had I suggested she rang 111, as I suspected she had a bacterial infection. She and Alex spent all morning at the Urgent Care centre, where she endured an ECG and blood tests because they detected heart arrhythmia. In the end everything came back clear, a chest infection was diagnosed and she was sent home with a prescription for Amoxicillin. It took Alex and I a surprisingly long time to find an open pharmacy - the information on the internet proved to be misleading!

Despite CJ's illness, the rest of us had a lovely Easter / birthday celebration, with the traditional egg-hunt (we actually found all of them this year) followed by a very delicious Greek influenced meal. Sarah made an orange, rosemary and olive oil cake for dessert, which was wonderfully light and fragrant.
