Coo

My bird field guide describes the Collared Dove as having a pale grey brown body with a thin black collar and a monotonous triple coo.  We get a few of them visiting the garden but they are heavily outnumbered by the bigger and heavier wood pigeons.  Doves and pigeons are far from my favourite birds, but they do help clean up the seed that the finches seem to delight in dropping as they messily eat from the bird feeders.

The wood pigeons would make a great meal for a visiting sparrow hawk, but sadly(!) sparrow hawks don't seem to come past very often.
