Metagama centenary

It will be 100 years ago on the 21st of April that SS Metagama left Stornoway for Canada, carrying several hundred young island men to a new life in the new world. This followed the losses, suffered by the island community in the First World War and the sinking of HMY Iolaire in 1919. This seminal event is widely commemorated in the island this year.
