inspiration all around us

By Marykathleen

Inspired by a stone seat.

Mislet Meeting House was converted from a small dwelling in 1703, and remained in use as a Quaker Meeting House until 1823 when it reverted to its original use and can now be hired as a holiday cottage.
The local tenant farmer gave us a guided tour, pointing out the nearby Quaker school and adjacent stables. He showed us this seat in the wall that surrounds the burial ground. It is likely that the Quakers would meet and worship here when it was forbidden for them to gather for worship in a building. It was a wonderful experience. I will return.
