Llanddwyn Island, Anglesey

Glyn and I decided to go here after seeing Kitto's photos at camera club. We left home at around 7.15 am and arrived at the carpark around 9.30am. It was very busy as there had been a park run, but at least people were leaving.

We walked along the beach towards the island, which is only an island at high tide. And we'd messed that up, despite checking, the tide was in. We realised it would be a couple of hours before it was properly out again and saw a couple attempting to paddle across. I convinced Glyn we should try.

We rolled up our trousers but I shouldn't have bothered. Glyn only got soaked up to his knees, but me, being over a foot shorter than him got wet up to my arse. However, it was sunny with a strong breeze and we soon dried out.

I'm glad to did go across early as there were only a handful of other people there. We took photos of the two lighthouses, the cottages, boathouse, church ruins, crosses and landscape.

After a good few hours, we left. The tide was almost out (still mostly ankle deep) and hoards of tourists were headed our way. It was worth the couple of minutes wading through the icy water earlier to have avoided the swathes of day-trippers and their dogs!
