Who me......?

Today is our 16th wedding anniversary. And you know how we celebrated it? Drenching cows. How exciting....not. We need a full fine day to drench the cows, and the weather forecast looked perfect this morning for doing this job. Towards lunchtime, the rain started to come over the hills in the west, and it has very slowly moved closer as the afternoon progressed. We carried on without stopping for lunch, and managed to get them all finished by mid afternoon. For the drench to work effectively, it has to be on the cows back, without any rain, for at least 2 hours. There has only been a few spots of rain so far, and hopefully it will stay away a bit longer - until the 2 hours is up.

Cow no. 198 featured in my photo was waiting in our holding pen, for her turn to go through the cattle yards for her drenching (down the throat and on the back, and also a Vitamin B12 plus selenium injection). And as a reward for posing beautifully....this cow gets to go into a paddock of lush grass and hay for the night. Such bliss!

For those blippers living in New Zealand, Country Calendar tomorrow night is featuring a couple farming in Maruia, not far from Murchison. So if you would like to see more of the beautiful area that I live in, tune into TV 1, at 7pm tomorrow night.
