A short train trip to the next station and then a walk along the Teufelsmauer/devils wall. A geological feature caused by the movement of tectonic plates. They gave us a sheltered spot to eat our sandwiches. We walked further to Thale where there is a deep valley. Opposite each other at the top are on one side the Hexentanzplatz/witches dancing place and the other the Rostrappe. According to legend the place where a horse tried to escape the witches dance leaving a hoofprint for prosterity. 

I wanted to see the Hexentanzplatz but the gondola was out of order because of the weather. We went up to the Rostrappe instead which was also impressive. We saw a goat family which was impressive at such height. I love their tenacious ability to climb. 

The chairlift was a challenge, not really a fan if they are open. It was very inexpensive, about €6 per adult each way.
