Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

A Stellar Day

Wow…. Could it be any nicer?   We had to spend the day outside with blue skies and sun..   Went on a walk in the Willapa national wildlife refuge…17,000 acres of preserved wetlands, Marsh, streams, forest and shore , some being reclaimed , and on the flyway  of 200 species of birds, many migrating .    It’s the blip since I’ve never been here… and it was gorgeous and quiet…there was a great concrete viewing platform you and just see toward the left.  However all we saw were some swallows.
That was only a start.   We stopped at the cranberry museum and walked around the bogs with our new knowledge.    After lunch we went to Cape Disappointment state park just to see the Maya Lin artworks , part of the Confluence Project, 6 sites along the Columbia river connecting the cultural and natural history,   I just learned about these…it was a thrill… too much to write about so look at the link if you are interested… in the collage are Waikiki beach , and Baker Bay,which is where Louis and Clark walked the last bit to their goal the Pacific Ocean  finally via the Columbia river in 1805.   The basalt fish table and the viewing platform and 3 more are Maya Lin’s tribute to this very end of their journey across the country..  So we took our selfie on this spot at the viewing platform which has the quote from their journal the day they arrived.    I can fix the shadows in Lightroom on my comluter but am too tired to try on the iPad tonight.     Fiona and Peter still had time for a gas power car speed race track thing and the video arcade!    ( H and I and maple sat on the boardwalk by the sea). ) Another amazing dinner… the fresh seafood here can’t be beat.  And then we waited an excruciating 30 minurtes for ice cream at scoopers…our choice of  48 flavors.!  Exhausted by now, we managed 1 more game of forbidden island before collapsing .    Rain predicted tomorrow.  Might be a good thing
