Union Chain Bridge

A cold, but not windy morning for my run.  I waited until the rain had stopped, but still got home with very wet feet.  Over five miles done again – which felt so much better than Tuesday as I wasn’t battling against the wind. 
 
The weather has been very changeable today, cold, sunny, wet and dry.  It’s been a day when hats, scarves and gloves were required, then weren’t required.  After a quiet morning we drove down to Paxton house.  It was getting very dull when we parked up, so our first stop was the café for some lunch.  It was even darker when we came out, but still dry, so we walked through the gardens and ground and then along the River Tweed to the Union Chain Bridge.   It was raining by the time we got there – thankfully not too heavily.  The bridge is looking almost complete after its refurbishment.  It must be re-opening sometime soon.  We walked back to Paxton and carried on around the estate.  Part of the route has been totally transformed as they have cut loads of trees down in a wooded valley.  New trees have been planted, but it is totally transformed without the mature trees.
 
 
We got back to the car just in time, as the rain started again.  We drove to Berwick.  It was brighter for a short while, then just as we had parked up, there was a really heavy shower,  We sat in the car until it had gone off, then wandered down through the town and back round the walls.  It was really grey and with the prospect of more rain, we didn’t hang around.  We picked up pizzas for tea and headed home.  It was much brighter at home, but there had been rain – though not as much as we had experienced, not all that far away.
 
Later TT and I mostly read our books.   BB had been doing some work today (at least it looks like it), but spent the evening gaming I think.
 
This is the refurbished Union Chain Bridge, complete with rain drop on the camera lens.  We spotted wild violets in the grounds of Paxton (extra).  The second extra is the lighthouse in Berwick – only because I am reading a book about lighthouse keepers.  You can see what a gloomy day it has been.
